Learn the capital and small cursive Q →

Capital Q

  1. Draw a closed capital oval, starting at the top and traveling around the left side, bottom, and right side.
  2. Lift the pen and add the short diagonal tail from inside the lower-right part of the oval to just below the baseline.

Small q

  1. Draw the small oval on the left, returning to its right edge near the baseline.
  2. Lift the pen and draw a straight right-hand stem from x-height into the descender space; this model has no hook on the tail.

Watch for this: Putting the descender on the left makes the small q resemble p. Place the oval first, then extend its right-hand stem straight below the baseline.
