HANDWRITING PRACTICE

How to write I

Start with a clear capital and small print form. Follow the ordered strokes, then copy the letter without tracing.

Learn the capital and small cursive I →

Capital I

  1. Draw the top horizontal bar from left to right.
  2. Lift the pen and draw the central stem downward to the baseline.
  3. Lift again and draw the bottom horizontal bar from left to right.

Small i

  1. Draw a short straight stem from x-height to the baseline.
  2. Lift the pen and place a small dot directly above the stem.

Watch for this: A missing or sideways dot can make the small i difficult to identify. Keep the stem short and place the separate dot above its center.
