Cursive R has a stem, an upper bowl and a lower leg that kicks outward. Small r rises to a little point just above the midline; keep it short in river.

How to write R and r
Capital R
- Start at the midline, sweep up to cap height and slant down to the baseline.
- Retrace the slant and round the upper bowl back to the middle junction.
- Curve down through the lower leg and finish its small outward baseline turn.
Small r
- Undercurve from below the midline to a small point just above it and form the short shoulder.
- Slant down to the baseline and finish with the small rightward turn.
