Start with a clear capital and small print form. Follow the ordered strokes, then copy the letter without tracing.

Learn the capital and small cursive K →

Capital K

  1. Draw the tall left stem downward to the baseline.
  2. Lift the pen, draw diagonally down-left from the upper right to the stem's middle, then diagonally down-right to the baseline.

Small k

  1. Draw the tall left stem downward to the baseline.
  2. Lift the pen, draw from the upper right of the small body to one junction on the stem, then continue diagonally down-right to the baseline.

Watch for this: Attaching the two arms at separate heights leaves a broken-looking small k. Bring both diagonal arms to the same clear junction on the tall stem.

Letter shapes, words and corrections

Write capital K

Draw a tall left stem. Meet it with an upper diagonal and continue with a lower diagonal toward the right.

Write lowercase k

Use a tall stem and two shorter diagonal arms within the body band.

Keep the form distinct

Unlike h’s rounded shoulder, k separates into two diagonal arms.

Practice k in words

Print practice: keep and making.

Copy “keep” and “making”, leaving each letter separate. Circle the clearest k in the row and use its body size for your next attempt.
