Learn the capital and small cursive E →

Capital E

  1. Start at the upper right, draw the top bar leftward, turn down the left stem, then turn right along the baseline.
  2. Lift the pen and draw the shorter middle bar from the stem toward the right.

Small e

  1. Start at the middle left and draw a short horizontal bar to the right.
  2. Without lifting, curve up and left around the small top, continue down and around the bottom, and finish on the lower right.

Watch for this: Omitting the middle bar makes the small e resemble c. Begin with the clear middle bar before rounding the top and lower curve.

Write capital E

Draw a tall left stem with top and bottom arms, then add a shorter middle arm.

Write lowercase e

Begin with a short horizontal bar, curve up and around, then continue through the lower bowl.

Keep the form distinct

Keep e’s internal bar distinct so it does not collapse into c.

Practice e in words

Print practice: every and letter.

Copy “every” and “letter”, leaving each letter separate. Circle the clearest e in the row and use its body size for your next attempt.
